Museum Animation A Day in Pompeii, a Melbourne Winter Masterpieces exhibition, was held
at Melbourne Museum from 26 June to 25 October 2009. Over 330,000 people
visited the exhibition -- an average of more than 2,700 per day --
making it the most popular traveling exhibition ever staged by an
Australian museum.

Zero One created the animation for an
immersive 3D theatre installation which gave visitors a chance to feel
the same drama and terror of the town's citizens long ago, and witness
how a series of eruptions wiped out Pompeii over 48 hours.

This
video is available in full HD stereo. Please get in touch with Zero One
through their website for licensing information for exhibitions,

Here's what the author says:

"The probability of the existence of life is thus calculated by dividing the volume of configuration space compatible with the existence of life, between the volume of the total configuration space (the infinite continuum). ... Some scientists believe that the probability that the universe fulfills all the necessary conditions could be between 0 and 10^-500."

In short them there seems little doubt that the universe is fine tuned for life. This is just one more step on a long process that will slowly evolve a follow on to paper books. Paper books evolved over many centuries first no doubt from notes on clay tablets to papyrus to scrolls in papyrus or parchment, to the codex format and then through printing first by woodcuts and finally moveable type. The flexibility of the underlying medium, paper, allowed readers to take notes easily and associate them with the text they were reading. Digital and electronic media are in their infancy so have not evolved the convenience of paper, and frankly have a long way to go. Just the human machine interface is still quite clumsy with the keyboard, generally no graphical interface so you can't make little helpful sketches in the margins, and so forth. Over time we can expect all that to change and that will be interesting.Ray Schneiderhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00736292194954847543noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8725432676598671973.post-44960075679519933782014-07-05T18:51:00.002-07:002014-07-05T18:51:42.776-07:00Fireworks From The Inside With A Little Drone Awesome ... great fun and not at all dangerous except to the little drone.Ray Schneiderhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00736292194954847543noreply@blogger.com0
